Tim Biskup

Tim Biskup - Originally from California, Tim Biskup was raised on Disneyland, Rat Fink, badly dubbed Japanese Sci-Fi flicks, punk rock, skateboarding and underground comics. In the mid-eighties he left Otis/Parsons School of Design to seek his fortune in the world of illustration. His career included designing for skateboard companies and record labels. (a highlight being his work for Ralph Records and his heroes the Residents). His obsession with the art of Mary Blair led him to a career in animation. This career has involved him in countless cartoons, including his own short “Freddy Seymore’s Amazing Life” for Nickelodeon and background supervisor for Cartoon Network’s “Time Squad.” In 1998, Biskup began hosting and curating the Burning Brush auctions, has been in a vast array of exhibitions and has currently launched a line of tee shirts and gift items under the GAMA-GO label. Stampe venete

“Aquatint is a method that allows the artist to print tonal passages in an etching. The artist applies a very fine dusting of powdered rosin to the etching plate. When this rosin dust is heated it bonds to the metal plate with each dust particle forming a minute area that resists acid. The plate is bitten in an acid bath, resulting is a fine texture that will hold ink. The longer the plate is left in the acid the deeper the texture will be bitten and the darker it will print. Goya was a masterful aquatint artist. He has bitten this plate several times, using an acid-resistant “stop-out” to protect the areas he wanted to remain lighter.”

Monoprints

A brief history of monoprints and monotypes - (…) One of the early artists who experimented with printing in color, on unusual papers (and linen), and with odd horizontal formats to emphasize the horizon, was a Dutch painter and etcher of stark, fantastic landscapes called Hercules Seghers (1589-1638).
